Abstract Details
Purpose:
To show how to manage a PDS after implantation of the cosmetic iris implants for iris color change.
Setting:
Ophthalmology Department, Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main, Germany
Methods:
A 28-year-old patient proceeded to iris color change in a clinic in India two years prior. She came in our ER with sudden onset of cloudy vision, red eye, dry eye symptoms, and photosensitivity. She had a BCVA=0,1LoGMAR and in anterior chamber had pigment granules from iris pigment epithelium through the cosmetic iris implant. The endothelial cells were also reduced. There were no signs of glaucoma, and no signs of corneal decompensation, but we suggested excision of implants. We made a single 2,2, mm temporal wound and two paracenteses and removed the implant in one-piece.
Results:
During the surgery, no adverse events occurred, and postoperatively the patient showed an IOD of 24 mmHg and stable visual acuity and endothelial cells.
Conclusions:
We describe a case of a patient with PDS after cosmetic iris implantation with still average endothelial cell count anfd its surgical removal with a one-piece-removal-technique.
