Abstract Details

Purpose:

To register and analyze changes in vision in patients with AMD after implantation of the EyeMax mono IOL.

Setting:

Eye Hospital Denmark - Charlottenlund, Denmark

Methods:

Consecutive non-randomized 2 years follow-up study of vision in 30 eyes of 21 patients with AMD.

Results:

The vision was measured by ETDRS. CDVA improved from 0,21 decimal to 0,38 decimal at 6 months (P<0.01). At 2 years follow-up CDVA was 0,35 decimal. The patients in the group with partial sight had a higher degree of improvement compared with the legal blind group. These results remained unchanged after 2 years.

Conclusions:

The primary selection criteria for inclusion to implant EyeMax mono were reliable after 2 years. The visual performance in daily life activities was stable.
