Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate safety and efficacy of 0-US probe for dense femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery.
Setting:
Rothschild Foundation, Paris, France
Methods:
Prospective series of 60 eyes operated by FLACS and 0-US probe. Lens opacity was grade 3 or more in all cases. Ultrasound handpiece was only used when necessary.
Results:
Zero-US probe allowed for cataract extraction in 56% and 30% of grade 3 and 4, respectively. None of grade 5 cataracts could be treated without the use of standard ultrasound program.
Conclusions:
Zero-US FLACS appeared an effective surgical option for the treatment of low and moderate cataract opacities. Ultrasounds were still necessary to perform cataract extraction in patients with harder nuclei.
