Abstract Details

Purpose:

To analyze postoperative visual acuity (VA), intraocular pressure (IOP) changes and biomicroscopic changes in patients who underwent femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery (FLACS), using in one eye a laser with non-contact liquid interface (Victus) and in the other eye a contact lens interface (Lensx).

Setting:

Clínica Rementería, and Universidad San Pablo CEU, Madrid, Spain

Methods:

A longitudinal prospective study was conducted from January 2019 to March 2019.Consecutive patients undergoing FLACS were included. The first eye was operated using the femtosecond laser of curved interface with contact lens (Lensx). One week later, the second eye using the femtosecond laser of liquid interface (Victus). Incisions, capsulotomy and nucleus fragmentation were performed in all cases. Phacoemulsification was performed subsequently under standard parameters. All surgeries were performed by the same surgeon. Exclusion criteria were pupillary dilatation less than 5 mm and presence of corneal irregularities.

Results:

Fifty eight eyes (29 patients) were included in this study, 72.4% female, mean age 71.3±8.6 years. The types of IOL implanted were: 5 monofocal (48.3%), 9 monofocal toric (15.5%), 13 trifocal (22.4%) and 8 trifocal toric (13.8%). Nor has any relationship been found between keratometry prior to surgery and these values after surgery (p>0.05).

Conclusions:

In our study, we did not find differences in the postoperative parameters in the early postoperative follow up visits after FLACS using two different FS laser platforms.
