Abstract Details
Purpose:
The imo perimeter is a new portable head-mounted meter and enables both eyes to be examined quickly at the same time in a luminous room.
In glaucomatous eyes, two perimeters of imo and Humphrey Field Analyzer(HFA )were compared to investigate the correlation and diagnostic ability.
Setting:
The subjects for the study were 120 glaucoma eyes in 60 patients and 40 normal eyes in 20 persons.
Methods:
They underwent an examination of their visual field using the imo and HFA. The correlation of each parameter; MD, PSD, and VFI was investigated. The examination time by both the perimeters was analyzed using the t-test. Moreover, the diagnostic ability, sensitivity and specificity were also investigated.
Results:
The parameters of MD, PSD, and VFI in both the perimeters showed a strong positive correlation, respectively (r=0.886, p<0.001; r=0.814, p<0.001; r=0.871, p<0.001). The examination time was 12.0(±2.5) minutes in the imo and 16.2(±2.5) minutes in the HFA.
The sensitivity in the imo was 80.5% in MD, 81.2% in PSD, 80.5% in VFI, and in the HFA was 63.3% in MD, 74.5% in PSD and 80.5% in VFI, respectively. The specificity in the imo was 90.0%, 87.5%, and 87.5%, respectively and in the HFA was 90.0%, 90%, and 85.0%, respectively.
Conclusions:
The parameters by the Imo and HFA in glaucomatous eyes showed strong positive correlations. Both the perimeters demonstrated favorable results in the sensitivity, specificity, and diagnostic ability. The imo is a useful perimeter, which enables both eyes to be examined quickly at the same time in a luminous room.
