Abstract Details
Purpose:
To compare the postoperative of visual outcomes after implantation of rotational asymmetric refractive low add Lentis comfort MF 15 (group 1), medium add Lentis Mplus MF20 (group 2) and Lentis Mplus MF30 (group 3) intraocular lenses.
Setting:
Universal Eye Center, Zhong-Li, Taiwan.
Methods:
Patients between 28 and 89 years of age who received monocular cataract surgery with rotational asymmetric refractive intraocular lens implantation were analyzed. Patients were evaluated between Nov. 2015 and Feb. 2019 for preoperative uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), postoperative UDVA and postoperative uncorrected near visual acuity (UNVA).
Results:
918 eyes were enrolled into this retrospective study. Group-1 comprised 373 eyes, group-2 involved 89 eyes and group-3 contained 456 eyes. Three groups had statistically significant improvement in preoperative and postoperative UDVA. The mean monocular UDVA changed from 0.50 logMAR ±0.27 preoperatively to 0.09 logMAR ±0.17 postoperatively in group-1. In group-2, UDVA changed from 0.46 logMAR ±0.22 preoperatively to 0.08 logMAR ± 0.10 postoperatively. And UDVA changed from 0.47 logMAR ±0.27preoperatively to 0.08 logMAR ±0.14 postoperatively in group-3. UNVA was 81% achieving J3 or better in group-1, 94% achieving J3 or better in group-2 and 90% achieving J3 in Group-3.
Conclusions:
The study showed that the medium add MF20 provide very good uncorrected visual acuity from distance to the extended near range. This blended vision approach using MF20 (+2.0D) with low add (+1.5D) or high add (+3.0D) will be useful to offer various plan of cataract surgery improving surgical outcomes and patient’s satisfaction.
