Abstract Details

Purpose:

To discuss and evaluate the management options of SMILE procedure related complications

Setting:

Batigoz Eye Hospital group

Methods:

: Between the years of 2015-2019, 2174 eyes that had laser vision correction of SMILE (Visumax femtosecond laser Carl Zeiss Meditec,Germany) have been reviewed . Surgical complications and their management were classified in three groups: 1-Surgical per operative complications: Suction loss (16 eyes), incomplete lenticul ( 5 eyes), black spot(12 eyes)... 2-Early postoperative complications:DLK (3 eyes), intrastromal haze (14 eyes),.. 3-Postoperative long term complications: Epithelial ingrowth (3 eyes). The way of management of the complications were discussed.

Results:

All complications of SMILE procedure have been successfully treated.None of the eyes have lost two or more lines of their BCVA.

Conclusions:

SMILE procedure has some certain surgical complications that can be treated easily with proper management strategies.
