Abstract Details

Purpose:

To demonstrate the 2 years clinical results of Selective Laser Capsulotomy (SLC) performed by CAPSULaser.

Setting:

Gemini Eye Clinic, Zlin, Czech Republic

Methods:

CAPSULaser was utilized after capsular staining with trypan blue to create 5mm circular capsulotomies in 20 eyes with clinically significant cataract without any other ocular pathology or any previous surgery. The patients were monitored postoperatively at one week, one month and three months, one year, 18 months and 2 years for capsular changes, visual acuity and refraction stability.

Results:

Complete circular capsulotomies were achieved in all eyes during surgery and the cataract surgery was performed with no complications in all cases. At 2 year follow up all eyes have IOL optic edge covered all around 360° with anterior capsule. Minor fibrotic changes and changes in shape and diameter are presented both numerically and in pictures. Mean UDVA, CDVA and refraction did not significantly differ from 18 month’s data.

Conclusions:

The 2 years follow up of eyes after capsulotomies performed by CAPSULaser indicate that the capsulotomies are stable and cover IOL optic edge all around 360°.
