Abstract Details

Purpose:

To demonstrate the effective use of custom made Toric IOl with high cylindrical power to restore quality vision in patients of corneal ectasias post cross linkage.

Setting:

Lions Eye Hospital, Ghaziabad, India

Methods:

Custom made toric IOLs with high cylindrical power up to 13 diopter, were used to restore quality vision in 5 patients of corneal ectasias, after clear lens extraction by phacoemulsification, having stable refraction, post cross linkage treatment,who were not able to tolerate spectacles and contact lens.

Results:

Excellent quality vision was restored in all 5 patients of corneal ectasias such as Keratoconus & Pellucid Marginal Degeneration with very high cylinder post cross linking with use of custom made toric IOLs with high cylindrical power.

Conclusions:

Custom made toric IOLs with high cylindrical power can be safely and effectively used to restore vision in patients of corneal ectasias such as Keratoconus & Pellucid Marginal Degeneration with very high cylinder post cross linking with use of custom made toric IOLs with high cylindrical power.
