Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate long term results of presbyopia correction by SUPRACOR method, performed bilateral in cases of presbyopia combined with ametropia

Setting:

Eye center "East Sight recovery"

Methods:

Patients from 44 to 60 years of age with presbyopia, corresponding the following criteria were chosen: spherical refraction from -5.0D +5.0D, astigmatism up 2D; near vision addidation up 1.5D. The contraindications were the same as for LASIK. The “hyperopic” group consisted of 92 patients (182 eyes), the observation period was 6 years. “Myopic” group consisted of 16 patients (32 eyes), the observation period was 3 years. All SUPRACOR procedures were perfomed on excimer lasers Technolas 317Z and Teneo 2 (Bausch@Lomb)

Results:

Average uncorrected monocular distance vision acuity (UDVA) and uncorrected monocular near vision acuity (UNVA) were respectively 0.77 and 0.89 (hyperopic group) first day after operation. Their binocular UDVA and UNVA was 0.87 and 0.96 respectively. In myopi group the dominant eye UDVA after operation was 0.94, non-dominant eye - 0.68, binocular - 0.98. The dominant eye UNVA was 0.65, non-dominant - 0.93, binocular - 0.96. All patients were satisfied with the results of operation.

Conclusions:

SUPRACOR is a safe, effective and predictable method of presbyopia correction based on LASIK, with stable results.
