Abstract Details
Purpose:
To study and investigate the efficacy of the procedures of clear lens extraction with high plus PCIOL in young patients with high hyperopia
Setting:
Regional Hospital Durres
Athens Eye Hospital
Methods:
The numbers of patients was 5; 3 males and 2 females. Age varied from 24-34 years old. Hyperopia varied from +6.00- +11.0 D. Visus with correction was 5/10 or more in all patients. Examinations included UCVA, BCVA, cycloplegic refraction, slit lamp biomicroscopy, tonometry, B-scan were done to all patients.
Results:
All patients underwent phacoemulsification + PCIOL (high plus power). Patients were examined firs day post-op 1 week, 2, 4 weeks, 2 months and 6 months after the surgery. The post op refraction was not more than 0.75 D
Conclusions:
In cases of young hyperopic patients who are not willing to wear spectacles, or contact lens, clear lens extraction with PCIOL can be considered as an efficient and predictable method for correction of high hypermetropia
