Abstract Details
Purpose:
To report a rare case of iridocorneal endothelial (ICE) syndrome in children.
Setting:
Dr. Soetomo General Hospital Surabaya
Methods:
An 8-year-old patient presented with whitish on both eyes since 3-month-old. There was redness on both eyes since born and given breastmilk in her eyes. Mother was tried to aborted in pregnancy. Visual acuity on RE was 1/300 and LE was 1/16-1, IOP on both eyes was controlled with medication. Patient had esotropia with nystagmus on both eyes. From the anterior segment found leukoma cornea, iris atrophy, and synechiae anterior and posterior. In LE found a rupture anterior capsule and lens material in anterior chamber. Patient was planned to had simple aspiration for RE and low vision treatment in LE.
Results:
For left eye for distance corrected with Telescope 6x improved to 4/25 while for near corrected with Pebble mini improved to 1M. For right eye parent still discussed with the family about the operation
Conclusions:
This patient has complex problems including ICE syndrome with cataract and lens material in anterior chamber. In some inoperable patient, the best thing to consider is to optimize the better functioning eye.
