Abstract Details

Purpose:

To describe the development of a new Electronic Medical Record Software that can classify established Keratoconus automatically by incorporating clinical data like subjective refraction and several others with corneal tomography driven wavefront and pachymetry data analyzed by the ORK-Schwind Software.

Setting:

Athens Vision Eye Institute

Methods:

We describe new metrics like "Keratoconus Volume A and B" (KVA-KVB) and Keratoconus Depth A and B (KDA-KDB) computed by the ORK-Schwind Software as Ablation Volume and Ablation Depths for a Corneal Wavefront driven Ablation of OZ of 7.0mm with (KVA and KDA) or without (KVB and KDB -High Order Aberration Only) taking into account the manifest Refraction data.

Results:

the EMR was able to classify keratoconus according to "KVA-KDA" and "KVB-KDB" provided by the ORK software incorporating additional clinical data like Age of the patient, Visual Acuity with spherocylindrical refraction and RGP lenses, Dominant Eye, Minimal Corneal Thickness, Stability of Topography, Presence of Opacity, Anterior chamber Depth (ACD) and Axial Length (AL).

Conclusions:

The new electronic fully automated VITAL classification system provides -in the well known to Physicians TNM-Classification Format for Malignancies- all pertinent clinical information incorporating function and structural data of any keratoconic Eye (not Cornea) provided a Tomography is performed an ORK-CAM compatible unit and AL and ACD are given.
