Abstract Details
Purpose:
to present tips and tricks for manual capsulorhexis in special cataract cases.
Setting:
Department of Ophthalmology, General Hospital of Lamia, Lamia, Greece
Methods:
video presentation of ways of performing manual capsulorhexis in white cataract, white intumescent cataract, hypermature cataract, phacodonesis, loose zonules, poor mydriasis.
Results:
with the appropriate modifications in basic capsulorhexis technique continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis was feasible in various special cases.
Conclusions:
safe and effective capsulorhexis requiring adjustments in basic technique can be performed in difficult cataract cases. The method is flexible and allows decisions and steps to be modified depending on the skill and comfort zone of the individual surgeon.
