Abstract Details
Purpose:
First experience with new surgical method of hyperopia correction
Setting:
Gemini Eye Clinics, Zlin and Prague, Czech Republic
Methods:
2 eyes of high hyperopic patient were treated by ReLEx SMILE by VisuMax (Carl Zeiss Meditec AG) femtosecond laser. Cap thickness was 125 microns, diameter of lenticule 8,3mm. Lenticle was manually extracted. Tobramycin and dexamethazon (Tobradex, Alcon) eye drops were instilled 3 times a day until the bottle was empty. UDVA, CDVA, refraction and corneal topography and tomography were assessed
Results:
The preop. refraction was OD +4,00 +0,25 ax 105° and OS +3,75 +0,25 ax 165°. CDVA 1,0 both eyes. The refraction is stable and close to 0 Dsf. eq. throughout the 12 months postop. period. Corneas are clear and patient happy.
Conclusions:
First 1 year results of this high hyperopia case report about the new surgical correction of hyperopia by ReLEx SMILE seems promising. Longer follow up and more patients is required to further evaluate this method. The results are part of multicenter clinical study.
