DOUGLAS D. KOCH, M.D. is a Professor and The Allen, Mosbacher, and Law Chair in Ophthalmology at the Cullen Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology, Baylor College of Medicine. He is the Editor Emeritus of the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and Past President of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Ophthalmological Society, and the International Intra-Ocular Implant Club. He has authored over 200 articles and book chapters on the topics of cataract and refractive surgery.
He has given over 20 named lectures, including the Kelman, Binkhorst, and Barraquer Lectures at the American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting; the Charles Kelman Innovators Lecture at the annual meeting of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons; the Lans Lecture at the International Society of Refractive Surgery Annual Meeting, the Ronald G. Michels Memorial Lecture at Johns Hopkins University; the Jules Stein Lecture at UCLA; the Arthur Lim Lecture at the Asia-Pacific Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery; and the First Gold Medal Lecture at the Australian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery in Queensland, Australia. In 2013, he received the Leslie Dana Gold Medal from the St. Louis Society for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
