Abstract Details

Purpose:

To present surgical experience on LenSx Femtosecond Laser for LASIK flap creation.

Setting:

FreeVis LASIK Center of the medical faculty Mannheim of Heidelberg University.

Methods:

56 eyes eligible for LASIK surgery were enrolled in the study. A 120 µ LASIK flap with 8.5 - 9.2 mm diameter was created using the LenSx Laser with integrated OCT. The quality of the flap was evaluated by ease of lift, stromal bed quality, accuracy and uniformity of flap thickness.

Results:

Flap lift using a blunt LASIK spatula was accomplished with little or no resistance. Stromal bed quality was smooth in all cases. Post operative corneal OCT showed excellent flap thickness accuracy.

Conclusions:

The LenSx Laser with integrated OCT is an effective tool for the creation of LASIK flaps, with attractive features such as curved patient interface and real-time OCT feedback to the surgeon.
