Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate the visual outcomes, safety, stability, efficacy, and predictability of LASIK for myopia using the latest 1050 Hz excimer laser, SCHWIND AMARIS 1050RS (SCHWIND, Germany) for visual correction and Femto LDV™ Z6 (Ziemer, Switzerland) for corneal flap creation.

Setting:

Shinagawa LASIK Center, Tokyo, Japan. Department of Ophthalmology, Wenzhou Medical College, Wenzhou, China.

Methods:

In this retrospective, non-comparative study, 181 eyes of 91 patients underwent LASIK with SCHWIND AMARIS 1050RS for myopic correction and Femto LDV™ Z6 for flap creation. The patients’ mean age was 32.45 ± 8.26 years (range: 18 ~ 53 years). The mean preoperative uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA) and manifest refraction spherical equivalent (MRSE) were 1.15 ± 0.24 logMAR (range: 0.4 ~ 1.7), -0.17 ± 0.06 logMAR (range: -0.3 ~ 0.15) and -4.59 ± 2.15 D (range: -11.13 ~ -0.75 D) respectively.

Results:

Preliminary results of UDVA at 1 week after LASIK, were that 97% of the eyes achieved 20/16 or better vision and 98% of the eyes were 20/20 or better. The MRSE was within ±0.50 D for 82.3% of the patients and within ±1.00 D for 97.2% of the patients. Since one week results are insufficient to confirm the safety and stability of this procedure, we will include longer term results with a larger patient sample size in the final presentation.

Conclusions:

The preliminary portion of our study of LASIK using SCHWIND AMARIS 1050RS and Femto LDV™ Z6 showed good early clinical results. Prior to the final presentation, this study will be updated to include a larger sample size and will also include the results over a longer follow-up period (3 months).
