Abstract Details

Purpose:

The AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® IOL, the LENTIS® Mplus IOL and the FineVision PhysIOL are all multifocal Intra Ocular Lenses which offers satisfactory UCVA at near, intermediate and far distances after phaco lensextraction for cataracts aiming to reduce spectacle dependence

Setting:

Patients with bilateral cataracts who received AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® IOL’s , LENTIS® Mplus IOL’s and the FineVision PhysIOL IOL’s were included in the study

Methods:

A comparative study was done on a) 50 patients with bilateral cataracts who received the AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® IOL +3.0 D, b) another 50 patients with bi-lateral cataracts who received the LENTIS® Mplus IOL, and c) patients with bi-lateral cataracts who received the FineVision PhysIOL IOL

Results:

Patient data and feedback with regards to UCVA at near, intermediate and far distances, spectacle independence and contrast sensitivity were noted, analyzed and results are reported and compared

Conclusions:

Patient satisfaction is not only determined by UCVA at all distances, but is also influenced by patients’ experience of side effects such as haloes
