Abstract Details

Purpose:

To research shape, thickness and biomechanical properties of the cornea after INTRACOR.

Setting:

S.N. Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Complex, Novosibirsk Branch

Methods:

Clinical trial is based on results of measurement cornea in 10 patients (11 eyes) after operation. The operation was performed with the femtosecond laser FEMTEC (Technolas-Perfect Vision). Pre- and postoperative complete ophthalmic examination including uncorrected and best spectacle corrected visual acuity, corneal topography Zyoptix (Bausch&Lomb), OCT (Optovue) was done.

Results:

After INTRACOR the power of the center cornea (3,0 mm) has increased up to 2,0 ± 0,25 D. We didn"t observe considerable changes of biomechanical properties of a cornea after operation. One day, one week, one and three months postoperatively the exams revealed a stable uncorrected near visual acuity with a mean gain of 5 lines of near visual acuity and no change in distance visual acuity.

Conclusions:

The new operation (INTRACOR) treatment of presbyopia shows very promising results in the correction of presbyopia.
