Abstract Details

Purpose:

To present the objective and subjective visual performance and the rotation stability of the enVista TORIC IOL IMPLANTed after anterior capsulotomy and nuclear fragmentation performed by femto laser procedure using Victus.

Setting:

Centro Diagnostico Italiano- Milan- Italy

Methods:

The enVista Toric IOL is an aspheric aberration free lens, with a glistening free hydrophobic material. Every procedure was performed by a single surgeon. Biometry data was performed using the IOL master. The IOL Toric model was selected using the online enVista toric IOL calculator. Tests were performed at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months after surgery to assess BCVA, Optical image quality metrics using the OPD SCAN III (MTF, PSF, Strehl ratio, internal coma at 4.5mm pupil diameter). Residual astigmatism will be expressed in OPD optical path difference. OPD retro illumination picture will be taken to evaluate the rotational stability.

Results:

45 eyes were operated on. After a 5.2mm caspulorhexis, and a 4 radial cut pattern nuclear fragmentation using Victus Femto laser, phacoemulsification through a 2.2mm clear cornea incision was completed. The lens was then implanted using the wound assisted technique using a single use injector. All the surgeries were uneventful, with no complication. The lens was easy to place in the appropriate axis. Rotational stability was assessed at 1, 3 and 6 months after surgery. Data will be compared to a control group of 39 eyes implanted with the same lens after manual caspulorhexis and standard phaco emulsification.

Conclusions:

Using both procedures, enVista Toric demonstrated an excellent rotational stability. After 12 months follow-up, we do not report any glistening.
