Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate visual performances, injection predictability and ease-of-use for the new and improved Aaren Scientific preloaded EC-1R HPI Adaptive™ aspheric intraocular lens using a three-step delivery system.

Setting:

C.M.A Centro di Microchirurgia Ambulatoriale, Via Donizetti 24, Monza (Milan)

Methods:

We present a retrospective study of 28 eyes of 25 patients, including functional and optical results at six months postoperative. Follow-up evaluations include uncorrected and best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), slit-lamp examination, an assessment of lens positioning and transparency (absences of vacuoles).

Results:

A video of the surgery will show lens implantation technique. Functional and optical results are good and meet expectations. IOL centration and stability are very good. Preoperative BCVA was 0.70 ± 0,21 and 0.98 ± 0.05 six months after surgey. Preoperative SE was 0.84 ± 1.83 D and -0.06 ± 0.52 at six months.

Conclusions:

The EC-1R HPI IOL provides easy-to-use and predictable injection through a four-step injection process. Excellent visual acuity outcomes with predictable results were achieved at six months postoperative examinations with low complication rates, and no glistenings. No complications were experienced with the new pre-loaded delivery system.
