Abstract Details

Purpose:

To measure lens density using Scheimpflug camera in eyes with history of acute anterior uveitis.

Setting:

Case control study

Methods:

23 patients (30 eyes) with history of acute anterior uvetis without cataracts and 28 healthy control patients (28 eyes), were measured with the density program of the Pentacam Scheimpflug imaging system (Oculos Inc, Wetzlar, Germany) (0=no density, 100=tissue completly opaque). The t-student option was use to compare groups.

Results:

Density of lens in patients with history of acute anterior uvetis (20,1 ± 11,9) was higher than in healthy patients ( 13,6 ± 5,6) (p= 0,034).

Conclusions:

The lens of the patients with history of acute anterior uvetis shows an anormal density even in the absence of clinical cataract. To our knowledge, no previous study has examined the lens densitometry in patients with history of acute anterior uveitis.
