Purpose:
To evaluate post-operative astigmatism using a standardized treatment plan with a femtosecond laser
Setting:
Outpatient Surgical Center
Methods:
A total of 120 eyes of patients undergoing laser cataract surgery with a standardized treatment plan were evaluated retrospectively with pre-op keratometric astigmatism ranging between 0.50-4.00D. Surgically induced astigmatism values from laser phaco incision were initially established in a separate cohort (60 eyes) and then utilized in the standardized surgical plan. During surgery, cyclo-rotation was determined and compensated for to ensure the accuracy of the all corneal incisions. Refractive outcomes are evaluated at 1 month and 3 months
Results:
Residual Refractive Cylinder mean at 1M and 3M are 0.49±0.42, and 0.41±0.41 respectively. The 3M distribution indicates 72% of the cases are within 0.50D and 87% within 0.75D
Conclusions:
The Femtosecond laser cataract surgery with a standardized surgical plan provided effective and predictable astigmatism management
