Purpose:
To present early surgical experience with the new Patient Interface designed for optimum outcome in laser Refractive cataract surgery
Setting:
FreeVis LASIK Center, medical faculty Mannheim of Heidelberg University.
Methods:
The new SoftFit Patient Interface from LenSx Laser was used on 200 eyes who underwent laser refractive cataract surgery. Patients were evaluated for ease of docking, quality of incisions and status of capsulorhexis.
Results:
Docking was easy and well-centered with the new interface. The new curvature eliminated corneal distortion in nearly all cases. Cut quality was excellent as shown with 99% free floating capsulotomies with pristine edge quality and distinct nuclear separation even with increased laser spot separation.
Conclusions:
The new soft patient interface demonstrates excellent performance outcome. The complete capsule and nuclear incisions reduces surgical manipulation and required techniques to complete the cataract extraction.
