Abstract Details

Purpose:

To provide the individual cataract surgeon solid data for benchmarking

Setting:

Dutch Cataract Register

Methods:

Web based cataract data system provided free of charge to every Dutch cataract surgeon.

Results:

The outcomes results of 450.000 cataract surgeries in the Netherlands are registered.Over the years there is a steady increase in data entries. Complcation rates of capsular rupture and dropped nucleus are decreasing.Endophthalmitis incidence is also decreasing over the years.

Conclusions:

This Cataract register is a very valuable tool for the individual cataract surgeon to benchmark his outcomes and for quality improvement.
