Purpose:
To find out if RHA MSI provides information in establishing a retino-choroidal diagnosis of reduced vision than that provided by OCT.
Setting:
A clinical private practice setting.
Methods:
24 eyes with best corrected visual acuity of 20/30 or worse which had undergone OCT to find etiology of reduced vision were examined by MSI.
Results:
15 eyes with drusen and retinal pigment epitheliuml (RPE) mottling were easier to be defined by MSI using it"s amber, red and infra red wavelengths. 5 eyes with Viteo-Retinal interface changes were better defined by OCT. In 5 eyes neither was diagnostic.
Conclusions:
Annidis RHA MSI is a new echnology that non invasively provides additional information to that provided by OCT for making a diagnosis of AMD in visual limitation where the diagnosis is not easily evident. Drusen and RPE mottling were easier to image on MSI than on OCT. Vitreo retinal interface changes were better defined on OCT
