Purpose:
To report results of a large series of patients implanted with the FineVision intraocular lens (IOL) after MICS.
Setting:
Centre Ophtalmologique IRIDIS Albi, France
Methods:
This retrospective study comprises 200 eyes (100 consecutive patients) having cataract surgery with implantation of the FineVision (PhysIOL, Belgium) IOL. Monocular and binocular uncorrected distance visual acuity, best corrected distance visual acuity, uncorrected near and intermediate visual acuity, undesired visual symptoms, patient dissatisfaction, and incidence of posterior capsule opacification were analyzed at least 3 months postoperatively.
Results:
The IOL power ranged 10.5 to 29.5D. The mean uncorrected distance acuity was LogMar 0.03 in 100% of cases. The postoperative spherical refraction was 0.06±0.03 D (-0.75 to 1.37D). In 94% of cases, the spherical equivalent was lower or equal to 0.5D. Many patients reported seeing non disabling halos (about 50%). One patient experienced chromatic transversal aberration on high contrast edges.
Conclusions:
Cataract surgery with the FineVision IOL provided good, stable distance and near visual acuities over a 3-year follow-up, leading to low spectacle independence and high patient satisfaction.
