Abstract Details

Purpose:

Uncorrected (UCVA) and corrected (BCVA) visual acuities and postoperative complications were evaluated till 6 months. Linear Regression analysis for SE correction and Wilcoxon Sign Rank test was used to evaluate the improvement in UCVA along with the Safety and Efficacy Index.

Setting:

Vasan Eye Care Hospital

Methods:

Uncorrected (UCVA) and corrected (BCVA) visual acuities and postoperative complications were evaluated till 6 months. Linear Regression analysis for SE correction and Wilcoxon Sign Rank test was used to evaluate the improvement in UCVA along with the Safety and Efficacy Index.

Results:

Preoperatively, the mean spherical equivalent in the 18 eyes (16 patients) was -12.89 diopters (D) +/- SD 6.01 SD range -5.0 to -18.75D and the mean cylinder 4.75 SD1.49,range -1.75 to -6.00 D. UCVA was 20/40 or better in 16/18(88.8) % of eyes (p=0.03).At 6 months, 83.3 %( 15/18) eyes were within +/-0.50 D of attempted correction. For the astigmatic components 77.7% of were within +/- 1.0 D (p=0.02). The efficacy index was 1.06 and the safety index, 1.18.

Conclusions:

Results confirm that pTICL is a predictable and effective procedure in keratoconus
