Abstract Details

Purpose:

To introduce a single use prototype cannula in Femtosecond Lasik surgery

Setting:

: Kobe Clinic, Kobe, Japan

Methods:

Using an angled 27G HealonR needle, we clumped the point slightly with a fine forceps and flattend tip (length=2mm) achieved. After the cornea plane created completely by the femtosecond laser, dissecting the flap-stroma interface with this needle like a spatula is available. To rinse the stroma bed following laser ablation, we used the same needle connected to the syringe contained the irrigation solution. With this same technique 46 patients and 89 flaps lift was done. The flap thickness setting was ranged from 90 to 110 micron.

Results:

No flap complicaiton (tear or puncture) occurred and all the lasik procedure completed well.

Conclusions:

This spatula combined cannula is safe and simple to lift up the femtosecond created flap and low cost as a view of disinfection.
