Purpose:
to evaluate the outcome of diode cyclophotocoagulation in refractory pediatric glaucoma
Setting:
: Recurrent EODG,
Pseudophakic glaucoma,
Advanced anterior segment dysgenesis
Methods:
29 eyes of 20 infants and children, age range 9months-6years with recurrent EODG (21eyes), pseudophakic glaucoma (5 eyes), advanced anterior segment dysgenesis (3eyes) were treated with trans-scleral diode Cyclophotocoagulation (20-40 shots/session, 360 degrees evading horizontal line, power 1000-2500, duration 1500-2000)
Results:
Significant IOP lowering, with no progression of optic disc cupping eventually occurred in 27 eyes (93%) in the first post-operative week in 21 eyes (72%), first post-operative month in 27 eyes (93%)
IOP lowering was maintained for at least 4 months and up to 12 months postoperatively
Conclusions:
Trans-scleral Diode Cyclo-photocoagualation is a viable method for managing refractory pediatric glaucoma cases
