Authors were searching the archives of clinics in Hradec Kralove and in Brno with purpose to reveal material about the first implantations in the Czechoslovakia
Results:
We memorialize work of prof.Vanysek and his early implantations in 1953 in Hradec Kralove and later in Brno
Conclusions:
There is no doubt that prof.Vanysek belongs to forgotten pioneer of IOL implantations. The Czech Society of Refractive and Cataract Surgery /CSRKCH/ awards "Vanysek medal" to its members since 2007 provided their credit for developtment of IOL implantations
