Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate clinical outcome after cataract surgery and implantation of Zeiss TORBI 709M toric monofocal intraocular lens (IOL).

Setting:

: Eye clinic “Svjetlost”, Zagreb, Croatia

Methods:

Thirty one patients (51 eyes) were evaluated after cataract surgery and implantation of toric monofocal IOL. Uncorrected distant visual acuity (UCDVA), residual refractive cylinder, IOL misalignment, posterior capsular opacification (PCO) rate and visual disturbances were measured. Follow up was at least three months.

Results:

The mean postoperative UCDVA was 0,65±0,3 D, The mean residual refractive cylinder was 0,55±0,26 D. The mean IOL misalignment was 3,91±1,25 D. Only one lens had to be repositioned one week after surgery. Four patients had to underwent Nd YAG laser capsulotomy without compromise of IOL stability.

Conclusions:

Implantation of Zeiss TORBI 709M toric monofocal (IOL) is effective, safe and stable method for correction of corneal astigmatism in cataract surgery
