Purpose:
To evalute the incidence and type of cataract surgery in the Czech republic
Setting:
: University Hospital Ostrava, Ophthalmology Department
Methods:
Questionnaire with 14 questions was sent to all 63 eye departments providing cataract surgery.
Answers were processed by using modern satistical methods
Results:
Data from 57 departments show that phacoemulsififation
was the prefered technique of more than 99% repondents.
There was an increase in the number of foldable IOLs to 99,8%. Out patient surgery was provided in more than 82% cases, mostly in municipal areas.
Conclusions:
There is evident that phacoemulsification with foldable IOL implantation and out patient surgery is favorit method of cataract surgery in the Czech Republic
