Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate and compare the optical outcomes and contrast sensitivity three months and six months after Implantation of OptiVis diffractive-refractive multifocal IOL

Setting:

eye clinic Cham, Janahof 2, 93413 Cham, Germany

Methods:

In a prospective case study from October 2009 until May 2010 we implanted OptiVis diffractive-refractive multifocal IOL in 48 eyes of 24 patients bilateral. We evaluated post-operative refraction, uncorrected (UCVA) and best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) for distance, intermediate and near visual acuity, contrast sensitivity, glares and halos three months and six months after implantation. The contrast sensitivity was examined with functional Image Analyzer Testing in daytime and nighttime conditions. RESULTS Three months after the Implantation the mean UCVA for distance was 0,68,after six months 0,76,the BCVA 0,78 after six months 0,8 with the mean correction of -0,32D and -0,29. The mean distance corrected visual acuity for intermediate vision was 0,69 after three months, after six months 0,70.The near distance corrected visual acuity was 0,8 after tree months,0.76 after six months.44,4 % of the patients noticed halos after three months, after 6 months 22,2 %,22.2 % experienced glare after three months, after six months 16,7%.

Conclusions:

The six months results after the implantations of OptiVis diffractive-refractive multifocal IOL (Aaren) in comparison with 3 months results shows improvement in distance visual acuity and slight decrease in near visual acuity. After 6 months the perception of glares and halos decrease.
