Abstract Details

"Purpose:

To determine the efficacy of Topo-Guided Transepithelial PRK followed by Toric Phakic IOL implantation after intracorneal ring (ICR) implantation and corneal collagen crosslinking (CXL) to improve vision and stop progression.

Setting:

Efekan Coskunseven, MD1, Haluk Talu, MD1, Dunya Eye Hospital, Istanbul, Turkey1

Methods:

4 keratoconus eyes of 4 patients underwent Topo-Guided Transepithelial PRK after Toric Phacic IOL implantation (ICL Toric) after ICR (Keraring, Mediphacos) followed by CXL (ICR+CXL). The Mean interval between ICR and CXL was 1,2 months and the mean interval between CXL and ICLToric implantation was 6,4 months the mean interval between Toric Phacic IOL and Topo-Guided Transepithelial PRK Implantation was 4,2 months. The preoperative and postoperative visual acuity, refraction, pachymeter and topography results were evaluated. The mean follow-up period was 7.2 months. RESULTS Results will be presented.

Conclusions:

Topo-Guided Transepithelial PRK followed by Toric Phakic IOL Implantation after ICR implantation followed by CXL is an effective treatment sequence that can stop progression and improve vision and refraction in select keratoconus patients. However a long-term follow-up of a larger population study is required to validate these findings
