Purpose:
To educate ophthalmologists on the potential for using aspeheric, toric, multifocal, and toric multifocal supplemental IOLs as either primary or secondary procedures
Setting:
University Hospital, European Capital City
Methods:
There is currently no agreed clearly organised scheme for planning supplemental IOL use. Such a protocol would clarify indications and terminology RESULTS A simple grid has been produced to clarify the use of supplemental IOLs as primary or secondary procedures. Specific nomenclature describes each possible procedure.
Conclusions:
Ophthalmologists are only beginning to discover the possibilities offered by supplemental IOLs. A clearly organised protocol and nomenclature is immensely valuable as a tool for plannign their introduction into clinical practice.
