Purpose:
To determine the efficacy, safety and patient satisfaction with the use of the Kamra pinhole inlay for the treatment of presbyopia.
Setting:
Wellington Eye Clinic, Dublin, Ireland
Methods:
Consecutive case series of the first 20 patients undergoing Kamra pinhole inlays for the treatment of presbyopia. Refractive outcomes, safety and efficacy were studied. Patient satisfaction was noted and correlated with inlay centration and topographic findings. RESULTS The average improvement in reading vision was impressive with the mean acuity unaided near being between N6 and N8. The distance vision in the reading eye was on average 1 line less good than the distance eye. The compromise in terms of distance vision was deemed to be insignificant.
Conclusions:
The Kamra pinhole inlay is a valuable adjunct to the current armamentarium of corneal solutions for presbyopia.
