Purpose:
To evaluate the quality of corneal graft incisions by FSL.
Setting:
Department of Ophthalmology, Dokkyo Medical University Japan
Methods:
Corneal incisions by FSL with a variety of depths were performed on pig eyes. The thickness of the lamellar cut was set at 200, 300, 400, 500 and 600?m, and the thickness was evaluated using ultrasound corneal pachymetry (Ph) and anterior segment OCT (OT). The interface quality was observed using a scanning electron microscope.
Results:
Each ablation depth was 200?m: 182.7±24.0 (Ph) 171.7±9.1?m (OT), 300?m: 274.0±11.5 (Ph) 261.3±18.9?m (OT), 400?m: 362±25.5 (Ph) 364.3±33.1?m (OT), 500?m: 494.3±7.1 (Ph) 497.7±15.1?m (OT), 600?m: 500±67.6 (Ph) 517.3±64.4?m (OT). To 200-400?m, smooth interfaces and sharp edges were created.
Conclusions:
FSL (150kHz) can create smooth and sharp lamellar cuts. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
