Purpose:
To estimate the efficacy of bioptic treatment in patients with high hyperopia and hyperopic astigmatism and advantages of this approach before other treatment methods.
Setting:
S. Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Federal State Institution, Ekaterinburg Branch, Ekaterinburg, Russia
Methods:
The results of treatment in a patient with high hyperopia combined with astigmatism are analyzed.
Before treatment:
VOD = 0.1 sph+6.0 = 0.45 cyl+2.5ax40 = 0.7
VOS = 0.1 sph+6.5 =0.4 cyl+4ax125 = 0.6-0.7
Standard preoperative investigation was performed. Surgical treatment included three steps on each eye. The first step included forming of a flap, the second (in one month) removal of transparent lens with IOL implantation (Restore SN6AD1, 34D). The third step included hyperopic astigmatism correction with excimer laser surgery. Post-op corrected and uncorrected visual acuity for far and for near was estimated.
Results:
In one day after final step (LASIK) VOD 0.7, no correction; VOS 0.65, no correction. In two months VOD 0.8, no correction; VOS 0.7, no correction.
Binocular visual acuity for near was 0.7. The patient is satisfied with the result and does not use spectacles neither for far nor for near.
Conclusions:
Bioptics operation with Restore IOL implantation in patients with high hyperopia combined with astigmatism is a prospective treatment method for correction of this refractive error. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
