Purpose:
to improve approach to iris-fixation of posterior chamber flexible IOL in cases of a partial or complete capsular bag deficiency.

Methods:
46 patients (50 eyes) were treated, among which 23 eyes with a complete capsular bag tear-off and 27 eyes with a partially secured capsular bag. Patients were aged from 1 to 75 years. The following intraocular lenses were implanted: C-flex (Rayner), r-Aqua SENSE (Rumex), Akreos A.O. (Bausch&Lomb). Anterior vitrectomy was performed in all the cases. Follow-up period varied from 1 to 18 months. Suture iris-fixation along the vertical meridian was made according to the " double-needle" technique through a corneal tunnel and paracentesis.
Results:
A reliable IOL fixation was obtained in all the cases. All the patients had an uneventful postoperative period. Postoperative visual acuity ranged from 0,1 to 1,0 depending on fundus state. Medicamental postoperative mydriasis was sufficient for fundus examination and formulation of the further treatment strategy. IOL, fixated by the above-mentioned technique, provided a good barrier function if silicone tamponade were required.
Conclusions:
there was proposed a simple, time-saving and low-traumatic method of flexible IOL iris-fixation which assures stability of IOL position and eliminates complication risks. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
