Purpose:
To evaluate the outcomes of combine phacoemulsification and Express implantation surgery in terms of IOP control an improvement of visual acuity.
Setting:
The retrospective study of 6 patients with chronic angle closure glaucoma treated with combine phacoemulsification and Express implantation.
Methods:
This was a consecutive case series of 6 patients treated with phacoemulsification and Express implantation under scleral flap with Mitomycin C
Results:
The patients were followed for 6 months, the IOP was controlled without medication in 5 patients. The mean pre-operative IOP was 29.26+-13.16 mmHg., the mean post- operative IOP was 11.63+- 5.94 mmHg. The visual acuity was improved in all patients (p<0.05). The anterior chamber was deepen and increase in angle parameter were demontreated by Visante. There was no tube -related complications.
Conclusions:
The lens extraction can deepen the anterior chamber and relieve of crowding of the angle, while combination with Express implantation, the improvement of filtration was significantly demomstrated and the IOP was lower in angle closure glaucoma. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
