Purpose:
To evaluate visual outcomes post-phacoemulsification with implantation of either Tecnis Multifocal (TMF) or Restor Multifocal IOL in patients with previous LASIK or PRK surgery.
Setting:
Center for Excellence in Eye Care
Methods:
Eyes that received a TMF or Restor multifocal IOL were evaluated. All eyes had previous Laser corrective surgery (LASIK or PRK). Outcome measures included UCVA, UCNVA and BCVA.
Results:
19 eyes were evaluated. 12 eyes implanted with TMF and 7 eyes implanted with Restor. The mean patient age of TMF and ReSTOR patients was 60 and 65 years old respectively. 7 males and 5 females received TMF lenses, and 2 males and 5 females received ReSTOR lenses. Postoperatively, 8% of patients implanted with TMF lens achieved a UCDVA of 20/20 and 58% achieved UCDVA 20/30 or better. 14% of ReSTOR patients achieved a UCDVA of 20/20 and 85% achieved a UCDVA of 20/30 or better. 25% and 100% of TMF patients achieved UCNVA of 20/20 and 20/30 or better, respectively. 0% and 75% of ReSTOR patients achieved UCNVA of 20/20 and 20/30 or better, respectively.
Conclusions:
This retrospective study suggests that TMF and ReSTOR lenses can provide good visual outcomes in patients with previous laser corrective surgery. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
