Purpose:
To assess visual functions in patents with cataract and astigmatism after Acrysof Restor Toric IOL implantation
Setting:
Irkutsk Branch of S. Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Federal State Institution
Methods:
9 patients (15 eyes) with cataract and astigmatism were examined in 1 and 12 months after Acrysof Restor Toric IOL implantation. Patients age varied from 18 to 54 years. Visual acuity at distances 40 cm and 5 m, stability of IOL location and subjective satisfaction with visual quality were defined. Preoperative visual acuity was reduced in all patients and reached far 0,3+/-0,12 and near 0,24+/-0,05 with maximal correction. Mean astigmatism value was 2,25+/-0,75 D. In 73,3% cases the cataract was combined with high myopia (10,5+/-0,12 D), in other cases with medium and high hypermetropia (10,5+/-0,12D).
Results:
In 1 month the no corrected monocular visual acuity reached 0,74+/-0,08 far and 0,48+/-0,11 near. It was appreciably higher than indices of visual functions before surgery (p<0, 05). In one year the increase of visual acuity at far and near was noted (0,82+/-0,04 ? 0,54+/-0,08, p<0,05). IOL location was stable. Deviation from main corneal meridian was 2+/-0,030. Value of residual astigmatism didnt exceed 0,5 D. Target refraction was achieved in all cases. Subjective assessment of visual quality satisfaction according to 5-point scale was very high (4,92+/-0,04 points). Before surgery it was equal to 2,8+/-0,05 (p<0,05).
Conclusions:
Acrysof Restor Toric IOL secures high resolution of visual system in patients with cataract and astigmatism. It allows recommending it for wide practical application. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
