Purpose:
To compare visual performance and high order wavefront analysis of patients with Acrysof IQ Restor toric multifocal vs Alcon SN60T toric monofocal intraocular (IOL) lens implants.
Setting:
Hospital de Egas Moniz Centro Hospitalar de Lisboa Ocidental
Methods:
This prospective clinical study included 10 eyes implanted after phacoemulsification with a toric multifocal IOL and 10 eyes implanted with a toric monofocal IOL after cataract surgery.
Higher order aberrations and visual performance were measured 3-months after surgery using a OPD-scanning device and were compared between the two groups of patients.
Results:
There was no statistically significant difference between uncorrected distance visual acuities, spherical equivalent, residual astigmatism and aberrometry analysis in the two groups (p >0,05).
Conclusions:
Both studied intraocular lenses promoted good distance postoperative visual acuity with no statistically significant difference in higher-order aberrations visual acuity and residual astigmatism.
Additional studies with larger samples are needed to confirm these results. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
