Purpose:
The main purpose for this poster is to present a relatively unknown work of Francois Marie Arouet Voltaire: 'Elements de la philosophie de Newton'
Setting:
A' Ophthalmologic Clinic of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, AHEPA Hospital, Greece
Methods:
As the main sources for this presentation we used the english edition of Voltaire's work and also Isaac Newton's book' Opticks or a Tteatise of the Reflections, Refractions, Inflections and Colours of Light'. In addition we use many other sources of literary and scientific writings to enrich the work and to explore the reasons because of Voltaire wrote this surprising work.
Results:
Francois Voltaire met the Newton's science during his stay in England when he was in exile.He was a great admirer of Newton's personality and science probably under the influence of his friend Emilie du Chatelet.
Conclusions:
Francois Voltaire wrote this work about Isaac Newton's 'Opticks' because he respected his philosophy and scientific pioneering and completeness. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
