Abstract Details

Purpose:

To analyze outcome of pediatric endothelial EK & deep anterior keratoplasty DLK & compare with historical penetrating keratoplasty PK data

Setting:

L V Prasad Eye Institute

Methods:

Retrospective analysis of indication, visual acuity VA, refraction, graft status of pediatric EK & DLK at 1 year was done & compared to PK

Results:

15 eyes (7.48+ 4.59 years, VA <20/400) had EK (most common (MC) failed graft 5, CHED 5). 14 (8.13+4.72 years, VA<20/400) had DLK (MC keratoconus 5, scar- viral 6, non viral 2). 1 year VA >20/80 was in 33%, 50%, 36%; refractive error was -0.7 D, 3.4D, 4.75D; graft survival was 86%, 57%, 62% in EK, DLK and PK. Most common cause of DLK & PK failure was infection

Conclusions:

Despite similar visual outcomes, EK has highest graft survival rates of 3 pediatric keratoplasty techniques FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
