To assess and compare the visual performance of AcrySof ResTOR IOL in patients with high myopia (axial length AL>26.5mm) as compared to those of emmetropic and low myopia patients

Purpose:

To compare and assess the visual performance, including distance, near visual acuities and patient satisfaction with implantation of diffractive multifocal IOL AcrySof ResTOR IOL in high myopia (AL>26.5mm) patients as compare to emmetropic and low myopia patients (AL<26.5mm)

Setting:

single surgeon in Hong Kong Cataract and Refractive Specialists

Methods:

retrospective case control study

Results:

22 eyes of high myopia and 23 eyes of emmtropic and low myopic patients were recruited. The average AL of study group was 27.66mm and the control was 23.451mm. The pre-op VA of the study group was 0.49logMAR and post op VA was 0.03 logMAR. For the control group, the pre-op VA was 0.41logMAR and post op VA was 0.02 logMAR. Patient satifaction score was high for both groups (9.0 for study group and 8.5 for control group) but is not statistically significant.

Conclusions:

Implantation of AcrySof ResTOR IOL in high myopic patients result in excellent visual performance as compared to emmetropic and low myopic patients. Patient satisfaction is high among high myopia patients. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
