Abstract Details

Purpose:

To investigate the clinical outcomes of of intrastromal femtosecond laser correction of presbyopia (IntraCOR).

Setting:

Ophthalmology department, Aix-Marseille university

Methods:

We are reporting the results of a prospective study on 76 emmetropic or slightly hyperopic presbyopic patients. Preoperatively routine eye examination included distance vision and near vision, corneal thickness, and wavefront measurements. The patients underwent intrastromal photodistruption with technolas 520F laser.

Results:

The mean age of the patients was 54.5. Follow up time was up to 36 months. Results revealed a stable Uncorrected Near Visual Acuity with statistically significant gain from mean J6 to J2 (J7-J1) (p<0.001). Preoperative Uncorrected mean Distance Visual Acuity was stable postoperatively. 6 eyes (6.45%) lost 1 line and 5 eyes (3.2%) lost 2 uncorrected distance visual acuity. There was no loss of distance corrected visual acuity. Enhancement treatment as PRK was performed on 1 eyes (6.45%) because of overcorrection.

Conclusions:

After 36 months performing IntraCOR, we report our modifications on patient selection, treatment centration and postoperative care. This femtosecond laser based treatment shows stable refractive outcomes and 90% patient satisfaction in presbyopia correction. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
