Purpose:
To investigate efficacy of Xenon application in refractive laser ophthalmosurgery.
Setting:
Ophthalmic clinic " OKOMED" , Moscow, Russia
Methods:
This study included 117 patients mean aged 26,1±3,2 years (17 to 34). All patients were operated (217 operations): Myopic, Hyperopic or Astigmatic Lasik by Allegretto Wave (Germany). 36 patients basic group, 81 patients control group. Before operation all basic group patients received Xenon-Oxygen inhalations by the special apparatus with closed contour " KTK-02" of our invent (patent ?86104, February 13, 2009). The Xenon-Oxygen inhalations continued 10 15 minutes with maximal xenon concentration 50% and decreasing in contour to 25%. All patients had monitoring control blood pressure, cardiac pulse, stress before and during the operation. The efficacy criteria were patients preparing before operations without additional medicines, analgesia degree during the surgery.
Results:
Stress and disturbance of all patients were removed after Xenon-Oxygen inhalations (100%). It was received enough degree analgesia. It was no applications hypotensive, sedative and narcotic medicaments. All patients had full calmness, adequate reactions during the operations. Blood pressure was decrease by 10 mm Hg, cardiac pulse was increase as nociceptive protection. At the first day after the operation all patients had no disturbances. The patients of control group had disturbances in 45% and sedative medicaments utilization, 34.5% had unequal reactions and additional medicines during the operations.
Conclusions:
Xenon inhalations by special apparatus with closed contour are very efficacy for patients preparing before refractive laser ophthalmosurgery, removing stress and disturbance without additional medicines. Xenon provides for enough degree analgesia and haemodynamic stability without additional medicines. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
